Strategic Plan Assessment

Here are five quick and easy questions that will give you a birds-eye view of your strategic plan.

Question 1: Our organization has a well-articulated vision that communicates where we want to be in five years. We don’t really have a vision. We have a vision but it has not been reviewed in several years. Our vision is fresh and directs us to the better future we desire for the next five years.

Question 2: Our organization has a mission statement that defines our purpose, undergirds our plans and drives all of our activities. We don’t have a mission statement. We have a mission statement but it does not really impact how we operate. Our mission statement drives all that we do.

Question 3: Our organization has clearly stated objectives that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based. We don’t have well-defined objectives. Our objectives are not specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, or time-based. Our objectives are S.M.A.R.T. and clearly lead to the fulfilling of our vision.

Question 4: Our organization has action plans with corresponding action steps that when completed will produce the desired results specified in our objectives. We don’t have action plans for our objectives. Our action plans do not clearly relate to our objectives. Our action plans are developed to fulfill our objectives and thus our vision.

Question 5: Our organization has action steps for each action plan that assigns who is responsible and accountable for each. We do not have action steps. Our action steps are not assigned to anyone for accountability. Our action steps are assigned to the person directly responsible.
